I remove the old finish and restore it by staining and sealing it.
Wood fences that look grey and ugly no longer have to painted or just tolerated. The cause of the grey look is a mold that collects on the wood surface. It can be stripped off, re-stained and sealed to get the new fence look without having to get the new fence or paying the price of a new fence.
